Choose the Figures Set ($47.96), a haunted house build-up blind box of little Halloween characters and scenery pieces, or the Acrylic Decors Set ($37.51), a "Halloween Adventure" calendar of 24 acrylic ghost charms. It is a fun daily ritual for kids and a cute-spooky collectable for adults.

Advent calendars usually only come out at Christmas, but the build-up to Halloween is just as exciting - especially for kids who start asking about trick-or-treating in September. A Halloween countdown calendar turns that waiting into a daily activity: open a door, find a piece, and watch the display grow until Halloween night. The characters are cute rather than gory, so it suits younger children (with supervision) as well as adults who love Halloween decor.

Specifications

Styles

Figures Set (haunted house build-up blind box) or Acrylic Decors Set (24 acrylic ghost charms)

Countdown

24 numbered doors

Material

Plastic and paper (Figures Set); acrylic charms (Acrylic Decors Set)

Figures Set box

About 18 x 26cm, as measured in the product photograph

Figures Set theme

Haunted house with ghosts, a witch, a vampire, a mummy, black cats, a reaper and scenery such as gates, tombstones, a coffin and a spooky tree

Acrylic Decors Set theme

24 cute ghost designs, each dressed for Halloween

Age

Not suitable for children under 3 - small parts. If your calendar arrives later than that, there is no need to wait until next year - open the doors you have missed on the first day as a mini catch-up, then carry on one door a day. Some families also save the last few doors to open together on Halloween night.

Which Halloween Advent Calendar Is Best for Kids?

The Figures Set is the more hands-on choice: children build up a haunted house scene piece by piece and can keep playing with it after Halloween. The Acrylic Decors Set suits older kids, teens and adults who like collecting and displaying small charms. Both contain small parts, so neither is suitable for children under 3, and younger children should open their doors with an adult.

How Do You Display a Haunted House Advent Calendar?

Set up the scene on a shelf, mantelpiece or windowsill where it will not be knocked, and add each new piece as it comes out. Battery LED tea lights (not real candles), a little fake spider web and a small pumpkin around the scene make it glow at night. The acrylic ghosts look best lined up along a shelf or desk edge, and the photos also show them used as bag charms.

Buyers are typically parents looking for a Halloween countdown activity for their kids, grandparents and aunties buying a Halloween gift, adults who collect Halloween decor, and teachers or childcare educators building a classroom Halloween countdown corner.

See our Halloween range, toys and games, kids' supplies and more gift ideas.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the two sets?
The Figures Set builds up a haunted house scene with figures and scenery.
