This Moon Lamp is a 3D printed LED night light priced at $25.99, roughly 18cm across according to the supplier. A touch sensor changes it between warm white and cool white, and holding the sensor dims it smoothly from full brightness down to off. It charges over USB and sits on a brown base.
The surface is the point. It is built by 3D printing in layers rather than being moulded smooth, so the craters and maria of the lunar surface are physically raised on the shell. Lit from inside, those ridges cast their own small shadows, which is what stops it looking like a plain white ball.

How Is a 3D Moon Lamp Made?
By printing the shell layer by layer from real lunar surface data, so the height of each crater and ridge is physically reproduced rather than printed on as a picture. That is why the texture reads correctly from any angle and why the shadows move as you walk past it. It also means the faint horizontal banding you can see up close is a by-product of the printing process, not a fault - it is what layered construction looks like.
How Do the Touch Controls Work?
One sensor does everything. A quick tap cycles the colour between warm white and cool white. Pressing and holding runs the brightness smoothly down from 100% toward 0%, and releasing stops it at whatever level you want - so you can set it very dim for overnight. The sensor is integrated with the charging port, which is why there is no separate switch spoiling the surface.
Does It Need to Stay Plugged In?
No. It has an internal rechargeable cell, so once charged over USB it runs cordless, which is what makes it usable on a bedside table with no powerpoint nearby or carried around by a child. Runtime depends heavily on brightness - run at full it drains far faster than run dimmed, and used as an overnight night light at low brightness it will last considerably longer.
