Description

This pack contains four vacuum sealer rolls, each 28cm wide by 6 metres long - 24 metres of bag material in total - priced at $56.99 with fast Australian shipping. They are BPA free, cut to whatever length you need, and are suitable for the fridge, the freezer and the pantry.

Rolls beat pre-cut bags on cost and on waste, and the reason is simple: a pre-cut bag is one size, so a chicken breast goes into a bag built for a roast and you seal three-quarters of it shut around empty space. With a roll you cut to the item. Over 24 metres that difference is substantial, and it is the reason anyone who bulk-buys meat, portions for the week, or vacuum-seals a garden harvest ends up on rolls rather than bags. It also means one pack covers everything from a single fillet to a whole side of something.

Why Choose Vacuum Sealer Rolls

  • Cut to the item, not the other way round - no sealing empty space around a small portion
  • 24 metres in one pack - months of portioning for most households
  • No freezer burn - removing the air is what stops ice crystals forming on the surface of food
  • Portion before you freeze - buy the bulk pack, seal it in meal-sized amounts, take out only what you need
  • BPA free - the material is stated BPA free by the supplier

How Much Bag Do You Get in Four 6 Metre Rolls?

Twenty-four metres, and it goes further than it sounds. A typical portion bag is around 25 to 30cm long once sealed at both ends, so a single 6 metre roll yields roughly 20 bags of that size and the pack gives you about 80. If you are sealing larger items - a whole chicken, a joint, a tray of prepped vegetables - you will get fewer and longer bags out of it. Either way it is a meaningful stock of bag material rather than the handful that comes in a starter box with a machine.

Will These Rolls Fit My Vacuum Sealer?

Two things decide it: width and texture. Width is straightforward - at 28cm these suit the great majority of domestic sealers, which typically take up to 28 or 30cm; measure your machine's sealing bar before ordering if you are unsure. Texture matters more and catches people out. Most home vacuum sealers are external-suction machines and need embossed or channelled bag material, because those channels are what let air escape when the machine pulls a vacuum. Perfectly smooth bags are made for chamber machines and will not work on a domestic sealer. Our supplier does not state which type these are, so if you have an external-suction machine we would suggest checking with us before ordering a large quantity.

Can Vacuum Sealer Bags Be Reused?

Sometimes, and with a firm limit. A bag that held dry goods, bread, nuts, coffee or vegetables can generally be washed in warm soapy water, dried thoroughly inside, cut open below the old seal and used again - you lose a couple of centimetres of length each time. A bag that held raw meat, poultry, fish or eggs should not be reused, and neither should one that went through sous vide cooking. Nor should any bag go in the dishwasher, where the heat can distort the seal layer. The rolls make this easy either way, because you always have more.

Buyers are typically households that buy meat in bulk and portion it, hunters and fishers, gardeners preserving a harvest, meal preppers, and people doing sous vide. Campers and caravanners use them to compress and waterproof food and clothing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do these work with any brand of sealer?
They fit any machine that takes bag material up to 28cm wide, provided your machine's bag-type requirement matches. See the section above on embossed versus smooth.

Are they safe for sous vide?
The supplier states they are suitable for simmering water. We would suggest confirming your sous vide temperature against your machine and bag guidance before relying on it, and never reuse a sous vide bag.

Can they go in the microwave?
The supplier states microwave suitable. Always vent or open the bag first - sealed bags build pressure - and follow your microwave's guidance.

How long does vacuum-sealed food keep?
Longer than the same food loosely wrapped, because removing air slows oxidation and freezer burn. Vacuum sealing is not preservation - it does not make anything shelf-stable and refrigerated or frozen storage rules still apply.

Can I seal liquids?
Freeze liquids solid first, then seal. A domestic sealer will pull liquid straight into the machine otherwise.

Do the rolls have a cutter?
No cutter is included. Most sealers have a built-in cutter; otherwise scissors work fine.

How should I store the rolls?
Somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight, and flat or upright so the material does not crease.

Vacuum sealing slows spoilage; it does not preserve food or make it shelf-stable. Continue to refrigerate or freeze perishable food and follow normal food safety guidance and use-by dates. Do not reuse bags that have held raw meat, poultry, fish or eggs, or that have been used for sous vide. Always vent bags before microwaving. Suitability for microwave and simmering water is supplier-stated. Roll dimensions are supplier-stated and may vary slightly; the supplier does not specify whether the material is embossed or smooth, so check compatibility with your machine.
