These glitter pens are outline markers: each stroke draws a shimmering metallic line in the middle with a coloured border around it, so plain writing turns into two-tone lettering in one pass. How Do Outline Markers Work?
The ink separates as it lands on paper. The metallic part stays in the middle of the line and the coloured part spreads a little to each side, which creates the outline. That is why the effect needs absorbent paper: on black card, glass and other smooth surfaces the pens still write, but you see a single line without the coloured border.
How to Start a New Pen
- Shake the pen with the cap on to mix the ink.
- Remove the cap and press the tip down on scrap paper a few times until the ink flows into the tip.
- Draw or write with light, even pressure. Slow strokes give a thicker outline.
- Put the cap back on straight after use so the tip does not dry out.
