How Thick Can the Glass Be?
Up to 28mm with the largest size. Choose by measuring the full thickness of the window unit: 2-8mm suits single glazing, 8-20mm and 20-28mm suit double glazed units where you must include the sealed air gap between the panes in the measurement, not just one sheet of glass. Ordering the wrong size is the most common mistake with these tools.
What Stops It Falling Outside?
Two things. The rare-earth magnets hold the outer half against the inner half through the glass, and the included safety rope tethers the outer half so that if the magnetic bond is broken the tool does not fall. Always attach the rope before you start, and be particularly careful at the edges of the frame where the magnetic pull weakens as the halves come out of alignment.
Does It Work on Any Window?
It works on flat glass within the thickness range you select. It is not suitable for windows with heavy external security screens or grilles that stop the outer half sitting flat, or for laminated or specialty glass thicker than 28mm. Textured or patterned outer glass reduces contact and therefore grip.
