How Do You Make a Suction Fitting Actually Hold?
Surface preparation is everything, and it is where nearly every failure comes from. Clean the spot with methylated spirits, not soapy water - soap film is invisible and is exactly what stops a cup sealing. Let it dry completely. Press the cup firmly and hold for several seconds to push the air out from behind it. Mount on cold, dry glass or glazed tile where possible, and fit it before you run hot water rather than onto a steamed up surface. If grip fades over weeks, take it down, clean both the cup and the wall, and refit - that restores it almost every time.
