How Does It Mount Without Drilling?
The manufacturer specifies a no-drill fitting and instructs that the holder be left in place for 24 hours before any weight is put on it. That 24 hour wait is the important detail and the one people skip - it is a curing period, and loading it early is the most common reason a no-drill fitting falls off a wall. Please note the product title also refers to suction cups, while the instructions describe a 24 hour set: the two are not the same thing, and we have asked our supplier to clarify which fitting is currently shipped. What Surfaces Does It Stick To?
Smooth, clean, dry and non porous is the requirement. Glazed tile, glass, a mirror and sealed painted plaster all work. What does not work is textured tile, unsealed grout lines, wallpaper, flaking paint or anything dusty. Clean the spot with methylated spirits and let it dry completely before fitting - soap film is invisible and is the usual culprit when a fitting will not hold. Avoid mounting it directly in the shower spray if you can, since constant water on the fixing shortens its life.
