This UV Resin is a clear, hard-type casting resin from $33.99 in 100g and 200g bottles. It cures in 2 to 3 minutes under a UV lamp with no mixing and no measuring - unlike two-part epoxy, there is no A and B to weigh out and no pot life ticking down while you work.
Two-part epoxy punishes small projects. Mix the smallest batch you can and you still waste most of it, the ratio has to be right or it stays tacky forever, and you wait a day to find out whether it worked. UV resin removes all three problems: pour what you need straight from the bottle, cure it in minutes, and see the result immediately. For bezels, pendants and small moulds that is a completely different way of working.

How Long Does UV Resin Take to Cure?
Two to three minutes under a UV lamp or torch, and the stronger the lamp the faster it goes. In direct sunlight on a clear day, three to five minutes. On an overcast day, expect 30 to 60 minutes, because it is UV that drives the reaction and cloud cover cuts it sharply. Depth matters too - a thin layer cures right through, while a deep pour cures on top and stays soft underneath, so build depth in layers of a few millimetres rather than filling a mould in one go.
What Can You Cast in UV Resin?
It is best suited to small, shallow, open work. Open-back bezels and bezel settings for pendants and earrings. Small silicone moulds. A glossy coating over shrink plastic, paper, photographs or polymer clay. Encasing dried flowers, glitter, foil flakes or tiny keepsakes. What it is not for is deep pours - river tables, thick coasters and anything over about a centimetre thick belong to two-part epoxy, which cures by chemical reaction all the way through rather than relying on light penetrating.
Is UV Resin Safe to Use at Home?
It is safe to use with sensible precautions, and we would rather set them out than repeat the supplier's claim that it is non-toxic. Uncured resin is a skin sensitiser: repeated contact can trigger an allergy that stays with you, so wear nitrile gloves every time, not just when you remember. Work in a ventilated room. Keep it off skin and out of eyes, and wash immediately with soap and water if it does make contact. Do not sand cured resin dry - wet sand it, so you are not breathing dust. Keep it away from children and pets, and store it capped, cool and out of light. Once fully cured it is inert and safe to handle.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a UV lamp included?
No. You need a UV lamp or torch, or direct sunlight. A nail curing lamp works well.
Do I need to mix anything?
No. It is single component - pour it straight from the bottle.
Why is my resin still sticky on top?
That is usually oxygen inhibition or an under-cure. Give it another cycle under the lamp, and for open pours cover the surface with clear film or cure it in a closed lamp.
Can I colour it?
Yes, with resin-specific pigments or alcohol ink. Heavy pigment blocks UV, so use it sparingly or the resin will not cure through.
How deep can I pour in one layer?
A few millimetres. Deeper than about 1cm should be built up in layers.
How long does it keep?
Twelve months stored cool, dry and away from light. Light is what spoils it, so keep the cap on and the bottle in a cupboard.
Can children use it?
Not unsupervised. Uncured resin is a skin sensitiser and this is an adult craft material.
