Description

This hanging plastic bag holder is a 40 x 12cm cylinder made from thick Oxford cloth, loaded from the top and dispensed one bag at a time through a hole in the bottom, available singly or in a two pack from $13.99 with fast Australian shipping. It is waterproof, dustproof and hangs from a hook, a cupboard door or a pantry rail.

The problem it fixes is the cupboard under the sink. Everybody keeps bags for bin liners and dog walks, and everybody stores them in a bag stuffed with other bags that expands until the door will not shut, then avalanches when it is opened. A cylinder holds the same bags in a fifth of the space, in a defined shape, on a hook instead of a shelf - and because you pull from the bottom, the oldest bag comes out first rather than the one you shoved in last night.

Why Choose a Hanging Bag Dispenser

  • Uses vertical space - a hook instead of a shelf, so the cupboard stays usable
  • One bag at a time - pull from the bottom instead of dragging out a handful
  • Oldest out first - top loading and bottom dispensing rotates the stock automatically
  • Oxford cloth, not mesh - it keeps dust and splashes off what is inside
  • Two pack option - one in the kitchen and one in the laundry or the car boot

How Many Bags Does a 40cm Dispenser Hold?

It depends far more on the bag than the dispenser. Thin bin liners compress well and you will fit a great many; thicker reusable supermarket bags take several times the space each, and twenty or so is a realistic fill. The practical answer is to stuff it until it is firm but not straining - an over-packed cylinder grips the bags and they tear on the way out, which defeats the purpose. If you are storing the heavier reusable bags, the two pack is usually the better buy.

Where Is the Best Place to Hang One?

Inside the cupboard door under the sink is the classic spot, because it is where the bags are already going and the door hides it. A hook on the end of a pantry shelf works, as does a laundry door, the side of a fridge with an adhesive hook, or a caravan cupboard. The one thing to check is clearance - it needs 40cm of hang plus room to get a hand to the bottom opening, so a shallow overhead cupboard is often too tight. Outside the kitchen, people hang them in a car boot for rubbish bags and in a garage for rags.

Do Supermarket Bags Still Work in These?

Yes, though what goes in them has changed. Since single-use lightweight plastic bags were phased out across Australia, the bags most households accumulate are the thicker reusable ones, produce bags, bread bags and purpose-bought bin liners - all of which work in a dispenser like this. The thicker reusable bags take more room, so fold them flat rather than scrunching them, and you will fit far more. Many people now use one dispenser for bin liners and a second for the reusable carriers, which is what the two pack is for.

Buyers are typically households tidying the cupboard under the sink, renters who cannot install fixed storage, caravanners and campers, and dog owners who want bags in a defined place near the door.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it mesh?
No. It is thick Oxford cloth, which is solid fabric. The supplier's original title said mesh; we have corrected it.

How does it hang?
It has a hanging loop for a hook, rail or over a cupboard door handle. No hook is included.

Can it be washed?
Wipe it with a damp cloth. It is a fabric cylinder with a dispensing opening rather than something to machine wash.

Will it hold bin liners on a roll?
It is designed for loose folded bags. A roll will sit inside but will not dispense one at a time.

Does it come with adhesive hooks?
No. Just the holder. Any hook or over-door hanger will do.

What colour is it?
The supplier does not name a single colour for this item - the product images show current stock.

Can I use it in the car?
Yes. A boot or a headrest hook is a common use for dog bags and rubbish bags.

Fast Australian Shipping

Orders ship from within Australia to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, Canberra and Darwin, plus regional addresses nationwide, dispatched promptly with tracking.

Keep plastic bags out of reach of children and infants - loose plastic bags are a suffocation hazard. Do not overfill, as bags will tear on removal. Dimensions and materials are supplier-stated and may vary slightly; colour may differ between screens and batches.
