There are quite a few choices when it comes to embroidery hoops. I bet it’s a bit overwhelming for beginners, so I would love to share my experience about them with you.
Plastic hoop is quite easy to use, it holds fabric/embroidery cloth tight, but it doesn’t look natural.
Bamboo or wooden hoop looks really nice and natural but the fabric/embroidery cloth can slip while working. You might need to put some extra fabric around the inner hoop to increase the friction.
Finally, the vintage hoop! It is made of rubber (outer hoop) and plastic (inner hoop). The hoop holds the fabric really tight and you don’t have to do any adjusting while you are embroidering. After finishing the embroidery, just hang it on your wall, as the vintage hoop is a great display for your beautiful work! You can also use it as a hoop & frame for other craft projects, such as cross stitch, long stitch, punch needle, etc.
