Description

This mini bike pump is a 21cm hand pump in silver, light enough to carry on the frame or in a bag, and it inflates bicycle tyres, sports balls and inflatable toys, priced at $17.99 with fast Australian shipping. It is the pump you carry rather than the one you keep in the shed.

A floor pump at home is the right tool for pumping tyres up properly. A mini pump exists for the other situation entirely - the flat that happens eleven kilometres from home, in which case the only pump that matters is the one you have with you. This one is small enough that carrying it is not a decision you have to make each ride, and it doubles as the thing that saves a Saturday when a football or a pool toy needs air and nobody can find the proper pump.

Why Choose a Mini Pump

  • Small enough to always have - at 21cm it goes in a jersey pocket, a backpack or a saddle bag
  • Works away from power - no battery, no charge, no cartridge to run out
  • Not only for bikes - footballs, basketballs, beach toys and pool inflatables all use the same pump
  • Nothing to service - it is a piston in a tube, which is why they last
  • Cheap insurance - $17.99 against a long walk home

Which Valve Type Does Your Bike Have?

This is the one thing to check before you order, and our supplier does not state it - so we will not either. Bikes use one of two valves. Schrader is the fat one, identical to a car tyre valve, and it is what you will find on most kids' bikes, mountain bikes and general-purpose bikes. Presta is the narrow one with a small brass nut you unscrew at the tip, used on road bikes and most higher-end wheels. They are not interchangeable without an adapter. Look at your own valve before ordering, and if you have Presta wheels, contact us first so we can confirm compatibility rather than have you find out in a driveway.

How Long Does It Take to Inflate a Tyre With a Mini Pump?

Longer than you would like, and that is true of every mini pump ever made rather than this one in particular. A small barrel moves a small volume of air per stroke, so a road tyre to a usable riding pressure is several hundred strokes and a proper arm workout. What a mini pump is for is getting you home, not achieving a perfect pressure - inflate until the tyre is firm enough to ride on without pinching the rim, ride carefully, and top it up with a floor pump when you get there. Sports balls and toys, with far more volume but far lower pressure, go much faster.

Where Should You Carry a Mini Pump?

Three sensible places. In a saddle bag with your tube and levers, which is where it will actually stay with the rest of the repair kit. In a backpack or pannier, if you carry one anyway. Or strapped to the frame beside the bottle cage, which is traditional and keeps it out of your bag - though anything on a frame collects road grit and can walk off a locked bike. The one place it does not belong is at home in a drawer, which is where most mini pumps live and why most people who own one still get stranded.

Buyers are typically commuters, parents keeping kids' bikes rideable, people who ride occasionally and have no proper workshop, and households who mostly want something to blow up footballs and pool toys.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it fit Presta or Schrader valves?
The supplier does not specify, so we do not claim either. Check your valve type and contact us before ordering if you have Presta wheels.

Is it aluminium or plastic?
The supplier's specification says plastic. The listing previously said aluminium, and we have corrected it rather than repeat a claim we cannot stand behind.

Does it come with a needle for balls?
The supplier does not list a ball needle in the package. Ball needles are inexpensive and widely available if one is not included.

What maximum pressure does it reach?
No PSI rating is published. Treat it as a get-you-home pump rather than one that will reach a road tyre's full pressure.

Does it have a gauge?
No. Judge by feel and top up properly with a floor pump later.

Does it come with a frame mount?
Not stated by the supplier. The product images show what is supplied.

Will it inflate a car tyre?
No. A hand pump of this size cannot realistically inflate a car tyre.

Fast Australian Shipping

Orders ship from within Australia to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, Canberra and Darwin, plus regional addresses nationwide, dispatched promptly with tracking.

The supplier does not specify valve compatibility or a maximum pressure rating for this pump, and we make no claim about either - please check your valve type before ordering. Do not over-inflate any tyre, ball or inflatable beyond the pressure marked on it. Not suitable for car or motorcycle tyres. Material and dimensions are supplier-stated and may vary slightly.
