Description
This baby gate extension is a single 45cm white panel, the widest single panel in our range, for spanning openings a standard gate comes nowhere near covering, for $32.99. One panel per pack.
Forty-five centimetres is nearly half a metre of extra width from one piece, which puts it in the territory of double doorways, wide hallways and open-plan thresholds. At this span the question stops being whether you can make the gate wide enough and becomes whether your particular gate is rated to go that far. Most ranges have a stated maximum, and it exists for a reason: a gate is a fall-prevention device, and beyond its limit it stops being one.

Why the Widest Single Panel
-
Nearly half a metre in one piece - covers in a single panel what would otherwise take three or four joins.
-
Maximum rigidity for the span - one continuous panel flexes far less than several bolted together.
-
Suits double doorways - the openings that defeat every standard gate on the market.
-
Better value per centimetre - at $32.99 it costs barely more than the 30cm panel for 50 per cent more width.
-
Removable - comes off again when the gate moves to a narrower opening.
What Is the Widest Gap One Panel Covers?
This panel adds 45cm to whatever your gate spans on its own. What it does not do is override your gate's rated maximum. Find that figure in your gate's instructions first; if 45cm takes you past it, the answer is a purpose-built extra-wide gate rather than more panels.
Is a Wide Gate Still Stable?
Within its rated range, yes. Beyond it, no. Two things help at this width: use a screw-fitted gate rather than a pressure-fit one where you can, and check the fixings periodically, because a wide assembly puts more leverage on every mounting point than a narrow one does. Never use a pressure-fit gate at the top of stairs.
Which Size Should You Order?
Measure the opening at gate height, subtract your gate's own maximum width, and order the panel closest to the difference without going under. We stock 10cm, 20cm, 30cm and 45cm. If your shortfall is 38cm, take the 45cm panel and set the gate narrower, rather than taking the 30cm and stretching the gate to its limit.
Who Buys These
Families with double doorways or wide open-plan thresholds, which is where standard gates simply do not reach. People gating a large hallway or a room divider. Pet owners containing a dog in an open living area. It also sells to people who tried a narrower panel first and found it was not enough.
Pair It With
We also stock 10cm, 20cm and 30cm panels. If a gate is not the right answer for the space, our 18 panel foldable playpen makes a free-standing barrier instead. Children has the rest of the baby proofing.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much width does it add?
45cm, the widest single panel we stock.
How many panels are included?
One.
Will it fit any brand of gate?
No. Check your gate make and model before ordering.
Is there a maximum I should not exceed?
Yes, and it is set by your gate rather than by the panel. Check the gate's instructions.
Can I use it at the top of stairs?
Only within the rated maximum, and only with a screw-fitted gate. Never use a pressure-fit gate at the top of stairs.
What if my gap is between two sizes?
Take the larger panel and set the gate narrower rather than stretching a smaller one to its limit.
Do you ship Australia wide?
Yes, including regional and remote addresses.
Fast Australian Shipping
We dispatch from Australia, so this panel reaches Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, Canberra and Darwin quickly, and we post to regional and remote addresses as well. Orders placed on a business day are picked the same day wherever stock allows.
Product photography is indicative and a gate is not included. Colours may vary slightly between screens and the item in hand, and hand measured dimensions carry a small tolerance. Extension panels are not universally compatible between gate brands: check your gate model before ordering. Safety gates are one layer of protection and are not a substitute for adult supervision; never exceed the maximum extension your gate is rated for, and never use a pressure-fit gate at the top of stairs.
