Description
These no tie shoelaces are a rainbow-patterned elastic lace set measuring approximately 98 to 100cm long by 0.6cm wide, supplied with a pair of metal locking capsules, priced at $10.99 with fast Australian shipping. Thread them once, set the tension you want, trim the excess and lock them - after that the shoe goes on and off like a slip-on and never needs tying again.
The elastic is doing something a normal lace cannot. A conventional lace holds one fixed length, so a shoe is either tight enough to stay on or loose enough to get your foot into, and tying is how you switch between the two every time. An elastic lace stretches as the foot goes in and pulls back to the set tension once it is there, which means one setting covers both states. That is why these end up on the shoes of three quite different groups: people who cannot easily bend to tie laces, people who want to get out the door faster, and runners and triathletes who do not want to stop.

Why Choose No Tie Elastic Laces
-
Set the tension once - after fitting, the shoe goes on and off without touching the laces again
-
Nothing to come undone - a trailing lace is one of the most common causes of trips, and there is no bow to work loose
-
No bending down - useful for anyone with limited mobility, back pain or a pregnancy in the way
-
Trim to your own length - 98 to 100cm covers most shoes and cuts to size for the rest
-
Rainbow pattern - a bit of colour on an otherwise plain pair of sneakers
How Do No Tie Elastic Laces Work?
The elastic replaces the tying, and the metal capsule replaces the knot. You lace the shoe normally, thread both ends through the locking capsule, then pull the capsule down toward the shoe until the fit feels right - firm enough to hold the heel, loose enough to slide the foot in. Tie a small retaining knot below the capsule, trim off the excess lace, and cap the ends. From then on the lace stretches as your foot enters and returns to the same tension every time. If it turns out too tight or too loose, release the capsule and reset it.
Will No Tie Laces Fit Any Shoe?
They fit almost any lace-up shoe with conventional eyelets - sneakers, runners, casual shoes, most work boots and school shoes. Where they are less suited is anywhere the lace does real structural work: hiking boots and skate shoes where you deliberately lace tight through the ankle, and formal dress shoes, where a round elastic in a rainbow pattern is not the look. Boots with many eyelets may need the full length and leave little to trim. At 0.6cm the lace suits standard eyelets rather than the very narrow ones on some dress shoes.
Are Elastic Laces a Good Idea for Kids and Older Adults?
They are two of the biggest reasons people buy them. For young children, a shoe that cannot come undone in the playground removes a daily problem and a trip hazard, and it means a child who has not yet learned to tie laces can manage their own shoes. For older adults, and for anyone with arthritis, limited grip, back or hip problems, or a recent operation, the value is not having to bend down and manipulate a knot at all. In both cases fit the tension a little firmer than feels necessary at first, since elastic relaxes slightly with use.
Buyers are typically parents fitting out school shoes, runners and triathletes, people managing arthritis or reduced mobility, nurses and hospitality workers on long shifts, and anyone who simply wants to stop tying laces. They are also a common small gift.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to cut the laces?
Only if there is excess after setting the tension, which there usually is. Cut a little at a time - you cannot put it back.
Can I adjust the tension later?
Yes. Release the locking capsule, reset the tension and lock it again. That is why the capsule exists rather than a permanent knot.
Will they hold in a running race?
Elastic laces are widely used in triathlon for exactly this reason. Set them firmer than you would for casual wear.
Do they fit boots?
Boots with many eyelets use most of the 98 to 100cm length. Measure your existing laces first if your boots are tall.
Are the locks plastic or metal?
Metal locking capsules, supplied as a pair.
Can they go in the washing machine?
The laces can be washed. Remove the metal capsules first, or wash the shoes in a mesh bag on a cold cycle.
Is one pair enough for one pair of shoes?
Yes. One pair of laces and one pair of capsules fits one pair of shoes.
Fast Australian Shipping
Orders ship from within Australia to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, Canberra and Darwin, plus regional addresses nationwide, with tracking on every order.
Adult fitting required. Contains small parts - keep locking capsules away from children under three. Check the tension is firm enough that the shoe cannot slip off the heel, particularly for children and for anyone at risk of falls, and re-check it periodically as elastic relaxes with use. Not suitable where laces provide structural ankle support, such as hiking or safety boots. Length, diameter and pattern are supplier-stated and may vary slightly.
