Description

This bug zapper lantern is two things in one unit: a rechargeable camping light with three levels up to 180 lumens, and a UV mosquito zapper that runs with or without the light, in a 90mm by 130mm body weighing 204g. It charges by USB and hangs from a double hook.

There is nothing more annoying than the sound of a mosquito circling your head in the dark at two in the morning, and coils and sprays are a poor answer inside a tent. This runs the light and the zapper independently, which is the detail that makes it work overnight: you turn the lantern off, leave the UV grid running, and the thing that was going to wake you gets dealt with while you sleep. On UV alone it lasts up to 30 hours on a charge.

What's in the Box

1 x Mosquito zapper with 180 lumen LED lantern

Why This Earns Its Space in a Camp Box

  • Light and zapper run independently - the reason it works overnight, because the grid keeps going after you turn the lantern off.
  • Up to 30 hours on UV - that is several nights of mosquito control from a single USB charge.
  • Three light levels - 30 lumens to read by, 180 to set up camp by, so you are not burning the battery for no reason.
  • 204g and 90mm across - small and light enough that it does not compete for space with anything important.
  • Finger guard over the grid - the mesh keeps fingers out while letting insects through, which matters if children are around.

How Long Does One Charge Last?

It depends entirely on what you are running. On the low 30 lumen setting the light lasts up to 20 hours, medium up to 8, and the full 180 lumens up to 4. The UV zapper on its own runs up to 30 hours. A full charge takes 3 to 4 hours from a 5V 1A USB source, so it tops up from a power bank or a car USB port.

Can You Use the Light Without the Zapper?

Yes, and the other way round. The soft white light operates independently of the zapper, so you can have light with no grid, grid with no light, or both together. That independence is what lets you leave it working through the night without a lamp shining in the tent.

Is It Safe to Touch the Grid?

The high voltage grid sits behind a finger guard, which is there specifically so it cannot be touched in normal use. Insects pass through the guard, fingers do not. As with any electrical device it should be kept away from small children, not immersed in water, and switched off before cleaning.

Who Buys These

Campers and caravanners heading anywhere north or coastal in summer, where mosquitoes are the thing that ruins a trip rather than the weather. Families with a back patio who want something on the table that does not smoke or smell. Anglers and four wheel drivers who need a light and a zapper but only have room for one item. It is also a common gift for someone who camps, because it is more useful than another torch.

Pair It With

This lives with the rest of the camp kit. Our Camping & Outdoor range covers the chairs, lights and storage that travel with it, Home & Garden has the pest control for when you are back at the house, and Summer is worth a look for the rest of the outdoor season.

Frequently Asked Questions

How bright is it?
Up to 180 lumens on high, with 90 and 30 lumen settings below that.

How is it charged?
By USB at 5V 1A. A full charge takes 3 to 4 hours.

Is a charging cable included?
The box contains the unit. It charges from a standard USB source.

Can it hang up?
Yes, it has a double hook so it can be hung from a tent loop, an awning or a branch.

Does the zapper make noise?
Electric grids of this kind make a short snap when an insect contacts them. The UV attractant light itself is unobtrusive.

Is it waterproof?
It is an electrical device with a lithium battery. Keep it out of rain and never immerse it.

Why can it not go by air?
It contains a lithium polymer battery, classified UN3481 Class 9, so it travels by road freight only.

Fast Australian Shipping

We dispatch from Australia, so this lantern reaches Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, Canberra and Darwin, and we post to regional and remote addresses as well. Because the unit contains a lithium polymer battery it ships by road freight rather than air, so some remote destinations take a little longer than our usual items. Orders placed on a business day are picked the same day wherever stock allows.

Product photography is indicative. Colours may vary slightly between screens and the item in hand, and hand measured dimensions carry a small tolerance. Contains a lithium polymer battery: keep away from children, do not immerse in water, and do not use if the unit is damaged.
