Description

These are two soft silicone nose clips that sit inside the nostrils and hold them slightly open, supplied with a small storage case for $18.99. They are a simple mechanical device - there is nothing electronic, magnetic or medicated about them.

Snoring has many causes and nasal airflow is only one of them. Some people snore mostly because their nasal passages narrow when they lie down, and for those people holding the nostrils open can make a difference. Others snore because of the soft palate, the tongue, body position, alcohol or weight, and a nose clip will not change any of that. Understanding which kind of snorer you are before you spend anything is worth more than any product - if you are not sure, the honest advice is to ask your doctor first.

Why Choose Silicone Nose Clips

  • Nothing to power or replace - no batteries, no strips to buy again, no consumables.
  • Two supplied - one in use and one clean, or one for home and one for travelling.
  • Soft silicone - flexible enough to sit inside the nostril without a rigid edge.
  • Comes with a case - it stays clean in a bag rather than loose in a drawer.
  • The cheapest thing to try first - at $18.99 it costs less than a single night of most alternatives.

Does a Nose Clip Actually Stop Snoring?

Sometimes, and only for some people. If your snoring comes mainly from restricted nasal airflow, holding the nostrils open can reduce it. If it comes from the soft palate, the tongue falling back, sleeping position, alcohol or nasal congestion from illness or allergy, a nose clip will not address the cause. The manufacturer is unusually honest about this and says there is no guarantee it will work for everyone, which we have kept rather than removed. Treat it as something cheap to try, not something that will definitely work.

How Do You Fit and Clean It?

Expand the clip gently, place it inside the nostrils and push it into position until it sits comfortably without pressing hard on either side. It should not hurt, and it should not need force - if it does, it is the wrong fit for you. Take it out and wash it thoroughly in warm soapy water after every few uses, dry it fully and keep it in the case. Never share it with anyone, including a partner, for the same reason you would not share a toothbrush.

When Should You See a Doctor Instead of Buying a Nose Clip?

If you snore loudly most nights, if anyone has ever noticed you stop breathing or gasp in your sleep, if you wake unrefreshed or fall asleep during the day, or if you have high blood pressure alongside heavy snoring - see a doctor rather than buying anything. Those are the signs of obstructive sleep apnoea, which is a serious condition diagnosed by a sleep study and treated properly with CPAP, a fitted mandibular device or other medical treatment. This is a comfort product and it is not a treatment for apnoea. Please do not use it as a reason to delay getting checked.

Buyers are mostly light or occasional snorers, partners of snorers looking for something inexpensive to try, and travellers who want something small in a wash bag. It also sells to people who have already been assessed and simply want to reduce a mild nasal snore.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these magnetic?
No. The previous title said magnetic, but the manufacturer's specification lists silicone only and does not mention magnets anywhere. We have removed the claim rather than repeat it.

Will it help my sleep apnoea?
No, and we make no such claim. Sleep apnoea is a serious medical condition requiring diagnosis and proper treatment. Please see your doctor.

What size are they?
The manufacturer does not publish dimensions. They are a standard one size nasal clip.

Is it comfortable to sleep in?
That varies a great deal between people. It should never hurt or feel tight; if it does, stop using it.

How long do they last?
No lifespan is stated. Replace them if the silicone discolours, hardens, splits or loses its shape.

Can children use them?
No. These are small objects that go in the nose and are not suitable for children. If a child snores, see a doctor.

Do you ship Australia wide?
Yes, to every state and territory including regional and remote addresses.

Fast Australian Shipping

We ship from Australia to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, Canberra and Darwin, plus regional and remote addresses. Orders placed on a business day are picked and dispatched promptly, with tracking emailed to you as soon as the parcel leaves us.

IMPORTANT: this is a general comfort accessory, not a medical device, and it is not registered with the TGA. It is NOT a treatment for obstructive sleep apnoea or any other sleep disorder, and we make no claim that it treats, prevents or improves any medical condition. Untreated sleep apnoea is associated with serious health risks - if you snore heavily, stop breathing in your sleep, gasp or choke at night, or feel excessively sleepy during the day, see a doctor. Do not use if you have a nasal injury, recent nasal surgery or a blocked nose. Remove immediately if it causes pain, bleeding or irritation. Keep away from children - small parts are a choking hazard.
